Not only are we reaching the point of peak production but CO2 emissions from oil based transport is a huge contributor to global warming. There are a number of cars which are very fuel efficient. We drive a diesel Smart. When driven economically it can deliver 90 mpg, and to be honest there are few cars that can touch this ultra low mileage. Within the last two years the major manufactures have begun to strive for increased fuel efficiency. However it's clear that we need to wean ourselves from this dependency on fossils fuel for our main source of transportation.
