Small scale wind turbines have just been brought onto the market. There seem to be three main suppliers for domestic use Windsave, Eclectic Energy and Swift. If anyone knows of other suppliers please let us know and I'll post them here. We may get a wind turbine installed once the need for planning permission is removed. However we are aware that living in a semi detached we will have to consult with our neighbours beforehand.

Transport We are seriously looking into buying an electric car in the future. This is Deb's domain! The choice of electric cars is growing and, even better news, the claimed mileage per charge is getting to the levels that electric transport could become a viable proposition for us. However, we need to save up for this now! We really like the idea of running a car on some of the power converted from the sun's energy through our Solar PV and perhaps later through the wind's energy once a wind turbine is installed. We would have to make a driveway so that the car has access to a socket for charging. In the meantime the car that I use for commuting is the most fuel-efficient we could find. Its a diesel Smart fortwo and we get 80 - 85 miles per gallon from it. In car-speak that equates to about 88 g/km CO2.
